The 32-acre Fairfield County property, located at 82 Brookwood Ln. in New Canaan, sold on Thursday, Oct. 10 for $10.75 million, according to the town's property records.

The home was last purchased for $10.8 million through the Kensho Trust in July 2022 by the 75-year-old Gere, known for "Pretty Woman" and "An Officer and a Gentleman." He had intended to turn part of the property into a farm and harvest mushrooms, honey, and vegetables in addition to having chickens and goats, according to NBC.

Gere, who also owns an estate in the Westchester County town of North Salem and previously lived in Pound Ridge, must have changed his mind though, as the property now belongs to Brookwood Hills LLC. It was sold at a $50,000 loss from when Gere bought it in 2022, which was for $10.8 million.

Before that, the estate was owned by Paul Simon, now age 83, and his wife Edie Brickell, who bought the home from the estate of investor Charles A. Dana Jr. for $16.5 million in 2002. Dana had previously owned the property for nearly 50 years.

The property was originally built in 1938 and consists of two homes with a total of six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

According to Connecticut business records, the estate's new owner, Brookwood Hills LLC, is connected to James Hoffman of Stamford-based real estate development company SBP Homes.
